Last night I had just updated my subscribed podcasts for the first time in quite a while, so as you may expect I had a few updates that I needed to listen to. So after syncing and crawling into bed, I set up my iPod and got Buzz Out Loud going. When I went to check if I still had it set to repeat I found something completely different that I had never heard of Apple doing. Three new buttons for while you’re listening to podcasts. These are (from left to right) email link, go back 30 seconds and increase speed.
I was quite surprised when I went to turn off shuffle and Tom Merritt and Molly Wood starting talking at double their usual speed! But it makes me wonder just what other little updates Apple has added into their new iPhone update…

iTunes 8.2
I checked my software update on my Mac when I got home from school today, and found Apple has updated iTunes again.
Version 8.2 is no major update. All it does (that I know of) is give support for the iPod/iPhone 3.0 firmware and fixes a few more bugs and problems.
Also, Quicktime has been updated, however it only improves performance and fixes some bugs.
No major news on the iTunes front. I guess we can now just hope that 3.0 is released in WWDC ’09

Leopard is Coming
It took long enough, but Leopard is finally upon us. You just have to wait until October 26th.
The thing I like most about this, is that I won’t need to buy a whole new laptop just to upgrade. The specs are on the website, and the minimum requirements are:
So as you can see, pretty much any mac can run Leopard. Better than Vista, having to upgrade like crazy just to run it.
You can pre-order it now, if you want. Me, personally, am not going to (China) but I am going to buy it as soon as possible. Apple is good at creating hypes. Lets hope this is a good one.

Liquid Cooling
hey guys,
Today i went and got a Thermaltake Bigwater 735 Liquid cooling system. It took me only about 30-45 minutes to install, and works perfectly. for any of you guys who are considering buying a water cooling system, and I’m listing the Pros and Cons here:
Pros:
> Better cooling
> looks awesome
> easy to install
Cons:
> IT MAKES YOUR PC ABOUT 3 TIMES NOISIER!!!!!! (providing that your current Pc doesnt make much noise)
> it does not continue to cool your PC after shut down. This means that your CPU’s temperature will stay hot after you have turned off your computer, and this will decrease the longivity of your CPU (not that it really matters, it’s likely that you’ll get a new CPU before it’s a quater way through it’s life….)
apart from all that, The Bigwater is an awesome Liquid Cooling system. But if you go to a lot of LAN parties and bring your PC everywhere, this isnt for you, it’ll make your computer about 2-3kg heavier.

P.S. i’ll try get some pics for u guys later…

MMO on PSP!!!!!!
ok, this is for all you sony fanboys out there. Coder ocean19 has developed an MMO for psp!!!! Ocean19 says it’s based on Zeke Walker’s Phaos, and with Zene’s permission, modded it to play on psp.
It’s called PSPOnline, and is your typical MMO, where you trade, build, get your levels up, battle, create etc. This comes as great news for those of us (like me) who adore runescape, but cant think of a way to lug the desktop into your room. oh, PSPOnline is situated at http://pspon.it.cx/.

P.S. sorry i havnt posted in a while, Homework’s killing me!!!!
An oxford philosopher named Nick Bostrom thinks that there is a high chance that we are living in a virtual world from the future us. Basically, he thinks that we are The Sims from the future.
Cool! Now, what would happen if the computer playing us crashed? What a way to die, jeez.
But come on, it can’t be that bad can it? If we are then this comes closer to solidifying that our future is planned for us!
New Apple Stuff!
About 3 days ago (I am writing this on the 9th August Australian time, 8th August American time) Apple computers released 3 new products. The first is iWork ’08. Apples alternative to Microsoft Office for the Mac OS X operating system, however, did not have a spreadsheet program. Until this release. There are now 3 programs. The first is Pages, a word processor, the second program is Keynote, a Power Point alternative, and now, the third is a new program called Numbers, the spreadsheet program. For those who use Mac OS X, you don’t have to invest in Microsoft Office anymore, iWork is inexpensive (US$9.99 to upgrade from iWork ’06 and about US$79.99 for new installation) and lets you export as a Microsoft Office file if necessary. The second announcement Apple made was about iLife ’08. The next version of Apples iLife suite. This includes updated iWeb, iPhoto, iMovie etc. This, also, is US$79.99 to buy and about US$9.99 to upgrade. Both iWork ’08 (Trial) and iLife ’08 (full version)come pre-installed on new Mac’s from the date of the announcement. The third announcement was about the new iMac. Apple released the next version of the loved iMac, made of glass, high quality plastic and aluminum. Also, with a re-designed keyboard with your choice of wireless or wired. The wireless is smaller and does not have the number pad at the right hand side.Overall, I think that these 3 announcements are great. And if you are planning on buying a new MacBook, I (personally) would wait, as a new, upgraded MacBook/pro may be just around the corner.
