iPhone 3.0 in Australia

I remember reading somewhere that, in Australia, the iPhone 3.0 software is coming out this Wednesday (tomorrow!).
I for one can’t wait for this. Copy and paste, and landscape keyboard in practically every app now will make a pretty big difference for me on the productivity front. The iPhone can be used for so many things now that it’s essentially a separate laptop for me.
Hopefully the blog I read it on was right and 3.0 does come out tomorrow!

New Zune

Well, I don’t know who agrees with me, but I think the new Zune actually looks pretty good. Nice new interface, podcasts, really nice new software look… My favorite is the wireless syncing. The big problem I have with this is the fact that it still isn’t compatible with Mac. Like, come on Microsoft. If you want more customers, at least change the software code a little bit…
Anyway, I’m sure there will be a hack for that (don’t tell me to use Parallels) so I can sync the Zune with iTunes. Until then, I am sticking with the iPod. They better have it for Mac by Christmas!

Sorry there hasn’t been a post lately… China has stuffed something up and I can’t post through the firewall. I managed to find a proxy :P

    Liquid Cooling

    hey guys,
Today i went and got a Thermaltake Bigwater 735 Liquid cooling system. It took me only about 30-45 minutes to install, and works perfectly. for any of you guys who are considering buying a water cooling system, and I’m listing the Pros and Cons here:
    Pros:
    > Better cooling
    > looks awesome
    > easy to install
    Cons:
    > IT MAKES YOUR PC ABOUT 3 TIMES NOISIER!!!!!! (providing that your current Pc doesnt make much noise)
    > it does not continue to cool your PC after shut down. This means that your CPU’s temperature will stay hot after you have turned off your computer, and this will decrease the longivity of your CPU (not that it really matters, it’s likely that you’ll get a new CPU before it’s a quater way through it’s life….)

apart from all that, The Bigwater is an awesome Liquid Cooling system. But if you go to a lot of LAN parties and bring your PC everywhere, this isnt for you, it’ll make your computer about 2-3kg heavier.
    -I’m out of here, .r080fr49.

P.S. i’ll try get some pics for u guys later…

    Well, it didn’t take long!

It didn’t take long, but PSP CFW (custom firmware) 3.71 (by M33) is now out. This is basically the custom version of the official firmware v3.71 but it lets you play ISO’s and use recovery mode etc. This didn’t take long (only about a week or two) since the official came out. Anyway, you need 3.52M33-3 or 3.51M33-4 to be able to upgrade to 3.71M33.

    Enjoy the new version!

Wrong Time To Buy an iPod

I found this on CNET blogs. David Carnoy basically goes on a rant about why it is the wrong time to buy an iPod. His main point is that an iPod Touch is basically the same thing as and iPod video. It has nearly all of the same features and the iPod ‘Classic’ has a lot more space. According to David, the only reason people want the new iPods etc. is because of the ‘coolness factor’. Apple makes their products look so cool that it makes people want them. David claims that sure, the first few days of the release is the time where you think “I gotta have one!” but after the hype starts to wear off, you start to realize that it doesn’t really have any new features.

I don’t think David has really changed my mind. I still want the iPod Touch as it has the Wi-Fi music store etc. It isn’t just the coolness factor that lured me.

Anyway, read this article and you can make your decision.

Be Careful When Hacking Your iPhone

According to a post on ArsTechnica, Apple is refusing to honor the warranties on hacked iPhones, so it looks like you’re going to have to be extra careful when you’re hacking your iPhone unless you have a spare 4 – 5 hundred bucks lying around!

    Robot Surgeons

Looks like the road to robot domination is set… either that or we’re all just really lazy! Writing this, I’m assuming that you have all heard about the zero-g surgery some doctors performed either earlier this year or last year (I forget), but now, they are doing the same thing but instead using robots! Looks like we aren’t sending human surgeons up to space to help astronauts after all.

    The Rumors Were Right!

iPod TouchWell, looks like the rumors were right. The new iPod Touch has now been unveiled. Basically looks and works exactly like the iPhone. But more space in the more expensive version (8GB for the cheaper one and 16GB for the more expensive one). I personally HAVE TO HAVE THIS! But that’s just me.  But another cool feature for it is the new Wi-Fi music store.  So now you can download music from your iPod.  I think this is what many people wanted in the first place.  A way to download music from the music store without having to use a computer.  Great job Apple (and yes, as you may have figured out, I’m an Apple fan boy (most of the time :P )).  There’s also another cool wi-fi feature.  Apple is continuing to work with Starbucks.  So say your in Starbucks, and you hear a song you like.  Go to the wi-fi music store and then it will tell you what has been and is playing at Starbucks.  So now you don’t need to find the name! They have also changed the look of all the other ipods. You should be able to see here!  The 16GB version will be going for  $399.00US and the 8GB for $299.00US.  Pretty good deal I think.  But only because it is around the same amount for an old iPod video.  I think it replaces the lack of capacity with features.

    Sittin’ in the Wall

    Sittin' in the wall
This is a two-sided piece of furniture which looks like a wall, but actually isn’t. The “wall” is soft and has a surface inside it. All you do is lean against the wall, and sit.
Even better, since it is two sided, you could be talking to someone in the next room and not only hear but vaguely see what is happening.

    Wireless iPod and iPhone control

Whilst many gadgets can control an iPod, Timex, In conjunction with Apple, has released a watch that controls iPods wirelessly! Dubbed the iControl, the watch can aso control the iPhone, when it is in “Airplane” mode. the iControl comes with the basic controls for an iPod, like, Play/Pause, Skip forward/reverse and raise/lower the volume. The watch presumably comes with an attachment to connect to the iPod/iPhone, and RF would be ideal, but i can’t help but wonder, ‘If you’re in a plane, and HAVE to put your iPhone on “airplane mode” doesn’t that mean that you’d be undoing that by using an RF watch to control your iPhone?’.

Aside from all the iPod-enhancing features, the watch comes with several features, including a 50-lap memory, and training log, meaning it can remember all the laps you’ve done, calculate the average time for a lap, and all the date details. if you’re into that sort of thing. The iControl is waterproof at up to 328 feet and is available in pink, blue, green, orange and gray/black. It is in stores now, and has a recommended retail of US$125.
